When and why did you begin writing? I started writing poetry when I was 14 as an emotional outlet. I was dealing with serious injuries from a car wreck and then, one year later, my brother’s death.
When did you first consider yourself a writer? I wrote a children’s series in 2006, which is ready for illustration.
What inspired you to write your first book? I wrote a sexy short story for a boyfriend in 2009. Occasionally, I pulled it out and looked at it, and then one day I decided it was good enough to turn into a novel. That short story is chapter one of my first book, Bound Through Blood.
Do you have a specific writing style? I like writing from a dual point of view.
How did you come up with the title? Mostly I come up with the title before I come up with the story. The words just pop into my mind, and then I come up with the story to go with it. Bound Through Blood is the exception, though. I chose that title because of the relationship between my characters.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp? No, it’s purely entertainment.
How much of the book is realistic? I research locations, history, and, for my crime fiction novels, CSI and autopsy terminology to make some of it accurate.
Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life? Just the sex scenes. *wink
What books have most influenced your life most? Paranormal romance and crime fiction books are my favorite reads. My mom got me hooked on them, and that is what I like to write.
If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor? Probably James Patterson.
What book are you reading now? Fractured by Karin Slaughter
Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest? Yes, Alexandra Lee
What are your current projects? I’m working on Angry House, Three Days to Run, Brothers Bound-Into the Darkness, and Black Widow. I also have a children’s book in progress titled Fluff Muggins are Cute.
